Hello everyone, welcome! Thanks for your support. I’m sharing my PC setup for starting up: Motherboard – Asus X99-A II, CPU – Intel 6800k, RAM – 64gb Corsair vengeance (not critical), GPU – 2080Ti Founder Edition, PSU – 850w Corsair. If you notice anything missing, let me know. I changed the GPU to a 2080Ti and it works fine, but when launching any game or running Unigine Benchmark at full resolution, the fan speeds spike to 100% and the temperature hits 88–90°C with a hotspot reaching 100°C. It becomes nearly unplayable, dropping FPS to around 10, even at lower resolutions like 720p or 1080p. The GPU is used at about 10–20%. I’m unsure what caused this issue—could be a hardware problem or overclocking gone wrong? I have no idea how the card was treated before. I’ve installed GPUZ, After Burner, EVGA Precision x1, and GeForce Experience; drivers are updated and BIOS is current. The specs match in the software. Could anyone help identify the problem or suggest possible fixes? I can send photos if needed for troubleshooting. Hope this clears things up!

It seems like you're suggesting disassembling the device and applying quality thermal paste.

You might be wondering if it seems too simple, but I’m sure you can handle it! Or maybe something is slowing me down? It’s hard to tell without more info.

Your GPU is experiencing extreme heat. Possible causes include poor thermal paste, inadequate cooler contact, or both.

It would be astonishing unless it was poor thermal paste.

Thanks! I’ll take it apart and reapply the paste and pads. I’ll share an update soon once it’s finished!

Absolutely in line with @flibberdipper's thoughts. Considering the release time of the RTX 2080 Ti, it’s likely the thermal paste has dried out.

No signs of prior access are present; the tamper seal remains intact. Everyone is in agreement about needing a fresh coat.

Are you connecting Power Connectors in a daisy chain using two 8-pin pins together in one cable? Or are you using two separate 8-pin cables for each pin on the GPU? Chaining 2x8 pins in one cable might lead to these problems, but using two distinct 8-pin cables per pin can help avoid them. I saw this issue with my 2080Ti having two 8-pins on a single cable; switching to separate cables resolved it and brought it back to normal operation.

I'm connecting the card with two distinct power supply connectors.
