Problem with 1080 Ti driver...
Hello, I'm experiencing some issues with my PC that often cause it to freeze or crash. The system runs an Intel Core i7 8700K, paired with an Asus ROG Maximus Hero Wifi (latest BIOS), a Nvidia GeForce RTX 1080 Ti (with latest drivers), and 32GB G.Skill DDR4 memory. I've tried several troubleshooting steps already.
Recently, I purchased a monitor with HDR support. After six months, I noticed horizontal grey bars flickering across the screen. Restarting resolved the issue. Once I turned off the HDR feature, the problem disappeared. The PC worked fine for at least two months before this issue arose. Now I suspect the GPU is the root cause.
When running demanding games like R6, Halo Infinite, or BF2042, everything functions properly until it crashes with these problems. Discord also becomes unstable. However, other titles such as Lethal Company and all VR games run smoothly without issues. Video editing software has also been affected.
I've already updated all software, rolled back recent changes, and checked temperatures on both CPU and GPU. No malware detected. Security scans passed. I ran a few diagnostics: no faults found. I disabled firewalls, CMD prompts (sfc, chkdsk, memory diagnostic) executed without errors, and checked the Control Panel. It showed the GPU gradually reaching 100% and then idling at 100%, which led to crashes.
