I have a custom built PC with AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, ASUSTek X570+ motherboard, Samsung SSD 860 EVO, 16GB RAM, Windows 10 home 64 - bit.
I cannot upload from Windows automatic updates because it tells me my PC has an unsupported disk layout for UEFI firmware. I have 368 GB left on my SDD so there is not a hard disk capacity issue. Windows help desk fixes did not work e.g. Repairing hard drive errors, restoring and repairing system files, there are no reported updated drivers required. I was advised that a reason could be that my motherboard is not set up on GPT on BIOS and this was the case (it was in MBR legacy mode), so I changed that. From what I read on the manufacturers website, there should be no issue with the ASUSTek X570 motherboard converting to GPT. All I am getting is a validation error - "disk layout validation failed for disk o"
I am n ow baffled about where to go and what I need to do? Any advice is appreciated please

Hi, the advice to use GPT was given after encountering an error when converting the partition disk in MS dos command prompt ("mbr2gpt /convert /allowfullos") — specifically a validation failure saying "disk layout validation failed for disk o". I'm not sure why this happened since I switched from Legacy to UEFI mode in BIOS.

Read here about transitioning disk partitioning from MBR to GPT and enabling UEFI boot.
