I recently upgraded my gaming PC with a Gigabyte RTX 4070TI to replace my old GTX 1070TI. After the swap, I only get a boot prompt saying to press F2 or DEL to enter BIOS. Nothing happens even after repeatedly pressing those keys. Once the monitor stopped responding, that was it. To give you some background, I’m running an ASUS ROG STRIX z370-e board, which has four LED indicators: CPU_LED, DRAM_LED, VGA_LED, and BOOT_DEVICE_LED. I’ve tried a few troubleshooting steps—removing the battery to reset BIOS, shorting CMOS pins, and even swapping the 1070 back in—but the problem persists. There were a few CMOS reset attempts where DRAM_LED stayed lit, suggesting RAM issues, but once I removed all RAM except one, BOOT_DEVICE_LED stayed on, pointing to a boot drive problem. I’m quite puzzled and want to know which component is failing. All the case RGBs and fans keep spinning even when I press the power button. I’ve also removed the RAM stick, left only one in place, deleted all extra drives, and even connected the GPU to the motherboard’s HDMI port. What’s going on?

I overlooked that every RGB setting and fan rotation continues while the power button is pressed.

Ensure all connections are safe both inside and outside, experiment with various ports for video, USB, etc. Consider using a different PCIe slot. Also, try the BIOS flashback feature if available.

The BIOS flashback feature isn't available on your motherboard. You might explore alternative methods to access BIOS settings, such as using a different PCIe slot or other troubleshooting steps. I'll also attempt to boot without a GPU and rely solely on the integrated graphics, but the problem remains.
