Problem! The computer keeps restarting unexpectedly.
A week ago I replaced my CPU from an i5 8400 to an i9 9900k. To make it function, I had to refresh my system BIOS. Then, unexpectedly, my PC would power off and restart instantly without any warning. The BIOS was set to default with no overclocking enabled. I thought the power supply unit needed a boost, so I upgraded from a 500W thermaltake to an 850W MSI PSU. After that, the issue continued, sometimes in minutes and sometimes in hours. It occurred multiple times during a League of Legends match. I verified temperatures, cleaned the GPU thoroughly, applied thermal paste to the CPU, and confirmed everything was within safe limits. I also checked connections, reinserted RAM, and performed a driver update. Recently, an updated driver caused the two USB 3.1 ports on my motherboard to fail, possibly due to a short circuit. I ran driver cleans and diagnostics, but no problems were found. I’ve tried nearly everything and looked into the logs, which indicated a critical shutdown but only noted the PC stopped unexpectedly. Current hardware includes an Nvidia GTX 1070, i9 9900k, 850W MSI PSU, ASUS TUF Z370 motherboard, 256GB SSD, and a 500GB external Seagate 24GB DDR4 drive.
