Problem strange in GTA V
You're experiencing performance hiccups in GTA V when the frame rate exceeds around 130 FPS, causing noticeable stuttering. This usually happens during intense scenes like flying or driving in open areas, especially indoors with few obstacles. The issue disappears when you switch tabs or use a different display mode, such as alt-tabbing to another application. You mentioned trying driver settings and fullscreen modes without success, suggesting the problem isn't hardware-related but possibly tied to how the game handles multi-monitor setups.
Both displays run at 60Hz with a resolution of 1920x1080. The gaming monitor uses HDMI while the other connects through DVI.
I’ll include more information for better understanding. I can run at full GPU capacity without any trouble—actually the issues appear in scenes that use the least processing power (such as flying, driving at airports, or being indoors). The problem is completely linked to frame rate, and it disappears when you close out the tab. If I increase the supersampling to 4K, there’s no stuttering or freezing even though GPU usage reaches its maximum. I don’t mind using V-Sync because of input lag, but I don’t require 200 FPS. I’m not too worried about hitting 200 FPS myself; I’ll likely use Nvidia Inspector to cap the frame rate at around 75 to manage heat. Still, I’m curious about what’s behind the problem. What seems strange is that stuttering stops when the app isn’t in focus, even though the frame rate stays high. I’m worried this might point to a system configuration issue or something related to multiple monitors and could potentially lead to other problems later. Even though the issue isn’t major, I want to figure out its cause.
I’ve felt the same before. GTA feels oddly crafted for PC. It can be smooth one moment and then lag dramatically the next. It’s quite finicky. Plus, my game crashes below 60%, so I often have to press Alt-Tab to get it running again. Have you considered disabling high-detail streaming in the advanced settings? That might resolve the problem.
You can ignore the game's settings and let it run in normal mode without worrying about performance drops. The automatic adjustment to desktop frame rates is handled automatically. Regarding GTA V's sensitivity to 140 fps, it might be due to specific game configurations or settings that affect responsiveness.
