Hi, I hope you can assist me. I own a wireless Xbox Game Controller connected to a Windows 10 PC, and I’ve had it for several years. I’m sure when I first got it there were no issues, but recently after a Windows update, the Xbox button stopped lighting up when I started the computer. This is quite bothersome because I used to press it just to recognize the controller. Could anyone suggest a solution so I don’t have to do that every time I turn on the PC? Thank you. I think this might be covered in the hardware section of the forum, but I’m not sure where to find it. Please let me know if you can help.

I’ve been using XBox One/Elite/Elite II/Series X controllers for years and they never turn on with the pc. They don’t work even with the XBox. Personally, I wouldn’t want them because it’s just wasting battery since I use the pc for more than just gaming and many of my games don’t require a controller.

Thank you for your response, I do not have concerns regarding batteries since the controller is linked to the PC through a USB cable.

The opening line got me wondering if you were connecting it wirelessly. I wasn't sure about the wired setup. You might want to check the accessories app to explore any adjustable options on the controller.

anybody able to assist with this? I believed I resolved it by pressing the XBox button on the controller while the PC was off, causing the button to flash, and then turning on the PC after it loaded would stop the flashing. I think I might have made a mistake somewhere because now the controller isn't being detected by Windows 10 at all. To give you a clearer picture of my setup, the controller is connected to the computer via a USB 2.0 port using a micro USB cable. I also have the XBox battery pack inside the controller, but I tried removing it and just keeping the USB cable connected, which didn't seem to help.
