Recently I chose to upgrade my GPU because I suspected thermal throttling on my RX 480. As temperatures hit around 75-80°C, performance would drop and stuttering would worsen. Around that time I noticed my RAM was misconfigured on the motherboard, which limited the CPU frequency to under 2800MHz. Now it’s running at 3200MHz. My friend gave me his RX 570, which he didn’t use much. After installing the new GPU things felt slightly better but not much. I still experience noticeable stuttering in most games, though some like Rainbow Six Siege run smoothly. Between stutters I get solid frames of 60-110 depending on the game. Some titles don’t stutter at all, while others do. I’ve tried optimizing Windows for gaming—adjusting settings, turning off the Xbox game bar, changing power settings—but nothing seems to help. I’m unsure what to do next. One thing to note: two of my 10-pin power plugs on the modular PSU aren’t working. They power on but don’t deliver video signal, so I’m not sure what’s happening. If anyone can assist, it would be greatly appreciated. Here are my details: Asus Prime B450 M-A 2X8GB 3200MHz Ballistix Sport with DOCP enabled, Ryzen 1600 @3.6GHz, Sapphire Nitro, RX 570 Antec HCG 620M (very old), 1TB SSD.

The RX 470 was rebranded as 570 and 580 2048SP. The 480 model transitioned to 580 and 580X. A GPU upgrade won't fix your issue. The Ryzen 1600 struggles with RAM support on 3200 stable in about 99% of cases. Performance peaks between 2666 and 2933 unless you have an exceptional CPU and memory setup.

The RX 470 was rebranded as 570 and 580 2048SP. The 480 model transitioned to 580 and 580X. A GPU upgrade won't fix your issue. The Ryzen 1600 struggles with RAM support on 3200 stable in about 99% of cases. Performance peaks between 2666 and 2933 unless you have an exceptional CPU and memory setup.

Solution found. It’s unclear precisely what resolved the issue, but my games now perform much better. I played GTA 5 for roughly 30 minutes with just a minor stutter once I loaded it. Here’s a summary of my actions: updated motherboard BIOS to the latest version, installed chipset drivers to the newest release (though the problem continued), used AMD Cleanup and DDU to remove graphical drivers, disabled automatic updates to stop Windows from installing new ones, and reverted back to the older AMD drivers 23.2.1. I didn’t try the new drivers out of caution, so I’m unsure if that fixed it.
