I've recently achieved two semi-major chances with my system and now it's showing unusual boot behavior that's hard to identify. I replaced the failing HDD with a new 870 Evo 2TB SSD and upgraded the graphics card. Here are my system details: CPU – Intel 4th gen i7 4790K, GPU – MSI RTX 3060 Ti (upgraded from GTX 970), Motherboard – Gigabyte Z87X-D3H, BIOS version F9 (latest), PSU – Corsair AX860. Storage – Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD, WD Black 2TB HDD (failing), and a second drive is Samsung 870 EVO 2TB. The issue explanation: Recently, my PC won't boot from a restart or off state, even when waking from sleep. It never reaches the motherboard boot screen and doesn't attempt to open Windows. On the monitor, a display port signal appears on a black screen, then disappears and reappears repeatedly in a loop. If I press DEL at startup and enter BIOS without making changes, it boots into Windows smoothly and the PC runs normally.
GPU was brand new. I didn’t think about doing a DDU since I didn’t see it. Regarding the drivers, GeForce experience had problems on the first run, so I had to download directly from Nvidia. After that, updates worked smoothly through GeForce experience. I plan to completely uninstall and reinstall the drivers and will share the results.
No success yet. Completely removed all graphics drivers and reinstalled GeForce. Restarted the PC, but it still doesn<|pad|> to work. The screen lights up and appears normal, yet it won’t launch. To be honest, I’m not sure the graphics card is the problem. I also unplugged my new SSD to check, but that didn’t resolve the issue either.
