Problem encountered with the new build failing to start.
I built the whole setup from scratch and it didn’t power on at all. Turning the PSU switch on made the red LEDs flash rapidly before turning off completely—no status light appeared. Pressing the power button on the motherboard produced only a faint click from the PSU, no further response. After removing the PSU and checking voltages with a multimeter, everything looked normal. I disconnected just the motherboard and tested all components; even then, only the motherboard showed issues. I replaced it with another identical model and got the same outcome. Finally, I connected the new motherboard to an older working Corsair HX850i PSU, which functioned perfectly. Still confused—what should I do next? I already ordered a different PSU, assuming the problem was there, but that didn’t help since it worked with the HX850i too. Could both boards have been damaged? I haven’t tried connecting the RM1000x to my existing system running on the HX850i, but I’m worried it might harm the new board if it’s faulty. Thanks ahead of time.
Seems like some unusual concerns—anything affecting the rig’s shorting? Are there any standoffs left unused, perhaps hidden under the motherboard? A few basic checks come to mind: are all I/O connectors set up properly, including the power button and reset switch? Have you attempted a test boot by shorting the power button connector with a paperclip to check for issues? Also, have you tried re-seating the CPU and RAM to see if that resolves anything?
I didn’t verify for additional standoffs touching the board, though the case includes ATX standoffs, which makes me doubt it. Testing outside the case with a MB cardboard box as a test bench gave consistent outcomes. All I/O connectors seem fine. I haven’t shorted any pins, but the RST_SW button on the MB produced the same results. The manual indicates switches are present. Every part has been fully removed and reinserted one by one.
Are your BIOS settings current? With these new systems, you might need to update the BIOS to boot properly with that processor. Your motherboard includes the Q-Flash option, letting you update the board without a CPU. Just read the guide and it should work. The most recent BIOS for Gigabyte is version F7.
