Problem encountered with motherboard during power-off.
Hey everyone, a while back I needed a fresh PC, so I picked an old one. The details are listed below. When I powered it on, it started up fine, but when I tried to shut it down for some software installations, the system would restart after a couple of seconds. After that, everything went black with no display. I used the built-in graphics card for a while before getting a dedicated one, which helped with the shutdown glitches. Once I upgraded to a new GPU, the issue disappeared temporarily—though I still faced problems when using the integrated card. I swapped out the PSU, memory, and checked cables, but nothing fixed it. Changing the motherboard port that handled the restart resolved the issue briefly, but once I connected the new GPU, everything returned to normal. I’m not sure what to do next except possibly replace the motherboard, which isn’t cheap. Anyone have any suggestions?
Consider switching to another CPU, and the Intel motherboard can be intimidating.
The current setup works well with this CPU, though the processor itself might cause problems. I remember hearing about Intel motherboards being problematic, so a high-end one isn’t that affordable.
I’ll attempt to acquire another CPU and see what I can find. I’ll search for a reliable used Gigabyte motherboard. Thanks!
Also another problem with my motherboard is that it doesn't accept that many gpus, I have a GTS 450 and a GT 440, neither of them are accepted by this motherboard, they run fine on my old pc though, that's why I said I was pretty happy to see it working.
