I've got an older Lenovo X3550 M5 server that I'm attempting to get up and running. After resetting and clearing the CMOS, it powers on but fails at MEM INIT, restarts, then freezes at SMBIOS RDY. A video with additional details is attached. No need to criticize my configuration—just hoping you can help if you have any useful tips. Thanks!

The upload is complete. I installed one 16GB DDR4 ECC stick temporarily for the photo, though there were two available. I removed the second one first and then swapped the sticks to verify compatibility, but neither action resolved the issue. The processor is a 6-core Intel Xeon E5-2609. Updated on December 12, 2023 by Pandapip1 (note: CPU typo).

Is there anything specific you'd like me to clarify about the problem?

Ensure the single DIMM is placed in the first channel on channel 0. Most devices will refuse to start without filling channel 0 first.

I'm working with DIMM 1 and DIMM 4 now (previously only DIMM 1 was used). The behavior remains the same. Interestingly, resetting the IMM resolved the reboot issue during memory initialization. Now the system doesn't power on automatically when connected, but it still stays active in SMBIOS RDY (0xBD).

Ignore the mention of the initialization sequence ending. It still exists. The current notice reads "UEFI:SMBIOS RDY 0xBD." The prior condition is "UEFIBig GrinXE INIT 0xBD," which remains unchanged. Do you have any other references where I can seek guidance on this problem?

My screen cable is clearly faulty, and I’m at fault. I purchased a passive HDMI to VGA cable without realizing it wouldn’t work for HDMI to VGA. I’ll be buying a proper adapter; I’ll update later if I manage to get a display. I’m hoping I can access the setup tool and explore options there.

I'm just confused, it seems like a mistake. A bad cable plus poor instructions meant I believed there was an issue when it actually worked fine.
