Problem encountered when trying to view images shared through imgur.
Recently, I'm uncertain about which part to share this in, because I haven't been able to see the images posted in the forum. They appear as empty gray squares with a negative smiley face and the error text "imgur.com refused to connect". Initially, I thought it was just a temporary issue, but it's been happening for some time now. I can't even access the imgur site to check my account, and this problem occurs with Chrome, Brave, and Edge. My attempts to open imgur.com always result in the message about being temporarily over capacity. According to isitdownrightnow.com, imgur.com is operational, and from forum posts it seems others can view images posted through it. Using a VPN doesn't help. I'm using Windows 10 22H2 with default settings and haven't made any hardware changes recently. What else should I do?
Does your Chrome browser version match the newest release? Have you experimented with a VPN? Could your location be impacted by the issue you mentioned...?
Thread relocated from the Networking section to the Apps and Software section.
Both Chrome and Brave are currently on auto-update, which suggests they're up-to-date. Chrome is at 135.0.7049.85 and Brave is at 1.77.97. I previously noted that a VPN doesn't affect this. I attempted to connect using US and European servers.
I reached out to imgur support and received their response. - If you encounter a 403 error when trying to access Imgur, it usually indicates your network has been blocked because of abuse. You’ll need to switch to a different network to reach Imgur. The error message I see when attempting to open imgur.com contains the code 403 (referenced in the first post). My friends using JioFiber, India’s largest ISP with over half a billion subscribers, also reported similar issues. They’re still puzzled why Imgur is blocking them even when using a VPN. I won’t sign up for two ISPs just to access Imgur.
