Here’s a clearer version of your explanation:

I built an old-school gaming rig during the XP era, mainly for playing classic games. The setup included a Soyo H67 motherboard (probably the main problem), an Intel i5-3470 with 8GB DDR3 RAM, a Corsair Vengeance 240GB SSD, and a WD Black HDD paired with an HD 6770. I initially used an Intel stock cooler with an i5-2400 processor, and everything functioned smoothly.

I upgraded to an InWin A55 550W PSU housed in a custom case with a Tesseract theme. At first, I installed the stock cooler, but it was too tight and caused my CPU to overheat. It emitted a series of short and long beeps indicating RAM or CPU issues. After replacing it with a cooler featuring a blue LED fan, things improved.

I also painted my motherboard panels to match the case design. Despite these changes, I encountered persistent problems. The cheap cooler failed completely, damaging my CPU—causing a 3 short followed by a long beep. I replaced it with a new cooler and tested it on an FSP 1000W Gold PSU. It worked perfectly.

I then tried a 450W Deepcool PSU, but the machine froze with no display or beeps. I checked BIOS settings, reset everything, and even used the help power button for 20 seconds before restarting. After reseating RAM in different slots, it still wouldn’t boot.

Eventually, I connected the FSP 1000W PSU from my test bench setup, which worked fine. However, when I switched back to the original case with the 24-pin and 4x4 power connectors, the machine would power on, but then shut down after about ten seconds, restarting itself repeatedly. It would hang indefinitely without any output, whether from the motherboard or GPU.

I’ve noticed that all the PSUs I’ve used are brand new except for the FSP, which is around five years old. When the machine powers on, everything lights up and peripherals get power. After roughly ten seconds, it turns off and restarts itself. Once it’s off, it remains in a frozen state until I turn it off.

I’m trying to figure out what’s causing this issue—especially since the motherboard seems to be fine otherwise. In my experience, if the board fails completely, it’s acceptable as long as I can identify the root cause. I’ve used older GPUs and the HD 6770 before, but anything more modern or powerful (like the GTX Titan Black) tends to trigger this problem.

The InWin PSU is considered a solid choice, though some users report issues with certain models. Deepcool PSUs are often criticized for poor component quality and reliability concerns.
