Problem Arma 2 freezes upon viewing ads before opening the primary menu. Assistance needed!
Hello. I’m experiencing issues with Arma 2 (Armed Assault 2) similar to what’s described in this thread. The game crashes to the desktop after viewing ads ("Bohemia Interactive presents", followed by "ARMA2" and then more nonsensical phrases) before attempting to open the main menu. I’ve already tried installing various graphics driver versions for my NVIDIA Quadro M2000 with 4 GB of VRAM, but the problem persists. I attempted to run the game in compatibility mode across multiple Windows versions—Windows XP SP2, SP3, Vista, SP1, SP2, Windows 7, and 8—but it still crashes. Running it as an administrator didn’t help either. I also tried disabling fullscreen optimizations, shortcutting the Arma2.exe file with the "-winxp" option, but nothing changed. I entered the path C:\Users\User name\Documents\ArmA 2\" and attempted to modify the ArmA2.cfg file using Notepad, yet no improvements occurred. Additionally, I deleted the entire ArmA2 folder in "C:\Users\User name\Documents" and the AppData\Local folder, but the issue remains. I installed OpenAL and Rapture 3D, as well as different DirectX packages, VC redist versions, and NET Framework updates, yet the game still doesn’t work. My PC hasn’t been overclocked—all components are running at default speeds. Here’s a detailed spec of my system:
Model: HP Z440
CPU: Intel Xeon E5-1650 v4 3.6 GHz
RAM: 32 GB DDR4-2400 (2 x Samsung M939A2K40CB1-CRC 16 GB DDR4-2400)
MB: Hewlett-Packard 212B, BIOS/UEFI version M60 v02.62, original for this model
GPU: NVIDIA Quadro M2000 4 GB DDR5 VRAM
PSU: Original power supply for this model, 700W
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 22H2 64-bit
I appreciate any advice or assistance you can provide.
PSU: this model came with the original PSU, 700W.
So the PSU hasn't been replaced? That would make it around 11 years old.
I'm having issues with Arma 2.
Where did you get the installer for the game from?
I've already tried installing different graphics driver versions for my card, which has an NVIDIA Quadro M2000 with 4 GB VRAM but still doesn't work.
Using DDU to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD and Nvidia), then manually installing the latest GPU driver from Nvidia's support site?
