I received an update from PIA about their significant price increases soon. I appreciate the work they do, but the new rates are much higher than options like Nord VPN. I’m looking for a better choice that offers solid Android apps, side-loading capability for FireTVs, strong OpenVPN support, compatibility with Netflix, and a lower cost than PIA—whose cheapest plan is just $3.49 per month after two years.
Creating it yourself offers savings, better protection, and greater adaptability. You manage everything, allowing you to set up and adjust as needed. Currently I spend $20 per year for 1TB/month data cap, a 1Gbps connection, 20Gbps SSD storage, which handles running a pihole plus VPN for 14 users at once.
We're discussing an option with @BuckGup that allows saving costs by avoiding a service provider while eliminating the risk of tracking your usage.
It still gets recorded by the ISP on the receiving end, along with the browser you employ and all sites you access.
I suggest using ExpressVPN. It supports Netflix and functions in China as well. A few PIAs servers have also worked with Netflix for me.
