AMD seems unfamiliar to me, but I think they offer good value. I spent about $800 (Canadian shekels) on my 7700k and motherboard, and $1000 before taxes is near the highest amount I’d consider. I’m planning an upgrade this summer when the 3000 series nVIDIA cards are expected to launch. This is solely for gaming purposes. My current specs match the original details.

For a gaming PC, an 8-core Ryzen processor is the optimal amount to allocate.

I wouldn't even consider it yet. A 7700k still works just fine. Particularly as a K, it would be useful to learn how to overclock and try that approach to get a bit more performance. A 7700k running at 4.6-4.8 GHz will perform well compared to most other options, and no AMD chip would be more suited for gaming. In a few years when games demand more cores, upgrading would make sense. At least according to me.

It depends on the resolution and the number of cores a game uses. For 4K, games that don’t rely on six or eight cores will run well. Higher resolution means more GPU demand, while CPU performance becomes less noticeable. On 4K, the difference between a 7700k and a 3700x display is minimal.

Not if you can overclock it to ~4.8 GHz. I mean, that is a little misleading. Yes, it will "bottleneck" a 3080 ti. But there is a lot more to it than that. What would you plan on upgrading to? What is your monitors resolution? What is your current monitor? A 9900k, or even a 9700k, both at stock, would definitely do better than a 4.8 GHz 7700k. But a 7700k @ 4.8 GHz ish will be very similar in most games to top line Ryzen cpu. A stock 7700k does better than a Ryzen 3600. A OCed 7700k would be even better. So, yes, will a high end Intel CPU get you more FPS, yes, it will. But unless you have a really nice high frame rate freesync 2560x1440 or 3440x1440 monitor, I would spend that money on a monitor instead. Thats my two cents.

I would think a 3080 super type card, not a ti would make more sense for that though, but you can always go 3080 ti and upgrade CPU when Ryzen 4000 or Intel 11000 series comes out for example. I just don't think a 7700k needs to be upgraded quite yet, I would likely wait one more cycle.
