My typical username feels worn out lately. I can’t log in anymore since the hack, so I’ve started a new account for Fallout 4 in America. It’s priced at 59.99 USD... Bethesda says it’s around 60 USD plus shipping, which seems reasonable. Local stores are charging anywhere from 59 AUD to 89 AUD, depending on their costs and sales goals. Things are getting uncertain now. Buying directly on Steam is expensive—about 79.99 USD (roughly 114 AUD). While others might face higher prices, we’re in a region where consumer rights haven’t held up against big tech, even when it comes to legal action. A massive jump like this feels like price gouging, especially if you play for over two hours. Refunds through Steam aren’t an option either. I’d ask an Australian to contact support, but I’m hoping most of you didn’t preorder. I usually don’t, but the chance to try Fallout a few hours after release was tempting. I’m embarrassed and sorry... fallout.... SJ

I originally placed an order for FO4 on Amazong for £35.99, but canceled it last night and purchased it from CDKeys.com for £29.90. I think they offer global keys, so I recommend getting it from there or a service like G2A if your currency conversion works well.

I feel rushed... so I’m opting for a pre-order, even though I normally prefer not to.

I recently purchased it on CD for my PC from a local EB Games store for around $75 AUD. It does save on internet use, though I'm not too impressed overall.

It's not true. The PC version comes on DVD and contains just a few files; most of the content is available for download via Steam. This approach was likely taken to prevent piracy. Similar issues don't exist with PS4 or XBone, which are easier to access.

Fallout 4 is starting to load, which means I won’t have to wait long even with the current internet issues.
