the situation gets worse when I run around with specs between 6850k oc and 4.5ghz on a high-performance rig. i use an asus strix 2080ti plus 32gb corsair vengeance 3200mhz ram, a 10tb hdd, and a nvme ssd. cryengine likely employs some asset loading techniques in the game. if i'm still or move slowly, it works fine—my gpu stays around 60% usage while my cpu is at 50% with 1080p at 144fps. the biggest slowdown appears at 120fps, suggesting the lag isn't coming from my hardware but possibly from how the game loads assets.

Have you explored the recommended fix (using the same engine)? https://steamcommunity.com/app/417880/di...984085922/

First, "lag" actually refers to a network problem. It’s unrelated to single-player games, and everyone should avoid calling it a convenient way to describe low or inconsistent frame rates. Second, brief drops from 144fps to 120fps are hardly noticeable. Stop obsessing over your frame rate numbers and dive into one of the top immersive single-player experiences of recent years.

I relied solely on the FPS counter to detect any changes, but I need to understand exactly what's causing the difference.

The frame rate fluctuates between 144 and 120. That’s quite unusual. To convince us there’s an actual issue, you’d need a clearer explanation.

It appears the game makes complete stops for half a second and doesn't display anything on the FPS counter.
