Hi, I'm checking if Prey offers webcam functionality and Absolute Software ensures stability across OS updates. Are there any issues when using both together on the same machine? Thanks!

Generally, I recommend contacting the developers or checking the user forum on their website to ask this question, as they will be best equipped to provide an answer.

Since the developer's "did not inspire confidence," you're essentially on your own to determine whether having both apps running and installed together will function properly. If issues arise, one manufacturer might shift blame to the other. You're left with an uncertain situation.

I'm not entirely sure about your specific setup. Regardless, I recommend preparing a set of tests that address concerns about the laptop's security—both physical and digital. Consider running controlled "what if" scenarios.

Once you install both applications, execute the tests. Start with simpler cases before moving on to more complex ones. Be ready for full reinstalls or recovery procedures if either software causes conflicts or tests fail.

It's likely your testing will be more thorough than the manufacturers expect. I'd suggest double-checking by reviewing the fine print (EUAs, terms, conditions) for each app. Stay critical—pay attention to what's mentioned and what isn't.

Thanks for the update. Considering I could potentially damage my system, I might secure the PC to avoid formatting and switch to Prey for laptop tracking.
