I sent a support request earlier this week to Intel for the RMA replacement of the 13700K retail box version. I completed the form with the issue details, included photos of the CPU (physically mint), and described the environment including the board and memory. At the 48-hour point they asked for proof of purchase, so I uploaded my Amazon receipt right away. By the 72-hour mark a confusing message appeared: “What does that even mean?” There was no clear timeline for receiving the RMA number or instructions on mailing it. It seemed like a vague response. Would Intel need to verify their RMA mailing address? Have others experienced this situation?

Seems like a system to send messages automatically.

Purchased from Amazon. Unclear how this affects their research or request type.

I considered if it was a third party, they might check if it was an authorized seller and attempt to block the warranty claim. Since Amazon is probably an authorized seller, it likely means an automated response, leaving you waiting unless you're still within the return window and can send it back.

It looks like few recent replacements were made. The information from 2020 is mostly gone, and the process has likely shifted since then.

Interesting result. The exact words from Intel on day 6: I can still return it, so no loss on my side, but this definitely deserves attention. It raises questions about whether the retail supply might be mixed with fake items or if Intel is simply refusing RMA requests.

Someone might wonder if it's true, but reports suggest they spotted it in the images.

It's not uncommon for Amazon to sell items that have been altered after return.

I noticed the PCB color doesn’t match expectations—it should be a bluish tone instead of dark green. The serial numbers appear laser-etched rather than properly etched, which is unusual. It looks like this isn’t a genuine product. I’m curious about why they didn’t improve the details.
