It's not functioning because the system is attempting to use a driver that doesn't match the setup. As Speedbird mentioned, adding GuestAdditions might allow the physical adapter to work through the virtual interface.

I initially tried that, but it didn't work with the version of Oracle VM VirtualBox I had. Eventually, I resolved it by using a preview version ahead of the current one, adding the latest updates and installing Guest Additions. Interestingly, even after that, Windows didn't display the resolution I wanted, but switching to another version changed it to 1080p instead of the expected setting. Thanks for your time and understanding.
