Preview of Microsoft Edge Insiders features
Another day with more blocked Google services for Edge Chromium users. This time it’s YouTube. Even though it worked well before, you’re now limited to a reduced version of the website. In other situations, Google apologized when it encountered an issue and resolved it, but so far they haven’t taken any further action or made any comments.
Google received significant buzz on social platforms regarding its activity on YouTube. They confirmed they were "investigating" and reinstated the complete modern YouTube experience for Edge Chromium.
Jack evaluates... Google doesn't cooperate well with others... I've disliked Google for a long time (since its first launch of Google Search) and they keep showing me reasons why.
I believe it stems from Google's apprehension about Edge. I haven't noticed such extensive updates from Google for Chrome since Microsoft began developing Edge Chromium. They introduced dark mode, are refining a new settings panel resembling Edge's interface to replace the cumbersome list panel, and are addressing longstanding challenges like smooth scrolling and memory optimization. Their approach seems aimed at pressuring Microsoft if it doesn't cooperate, potentially restricting Chrome access or diminishing its functionality for users.
Two updates; June 3rd, 2019 The autofill feature in Microsoft Edge is something most users are used to. In the upcoming release, the browser will also remember your login details for popular sites and assist you in completing forms with a single click. This article explores some of these tools that have become part of your daily routine. We’ll discuss how they work and why they matter. Viewing and deleting passwords directly inside Edge is now possible. Previously, you had to navigate to Windows Settings > Credentials Manager to access saved passwords. Now, this option is built right into the Edge interface. After logging in, you can see and remove your saved credentials in Settings > Profiles > Passwords. Improved suggestions for filling forms These adjustments aim to make form input smoother. You’ll see a full preview of address information with highlighted fields. Completing an address entry might still require some work, especially when multiple similar addresses exist. Edge now lets you preview all autofill options in one dropdown, helping you pick the correct one. The system highlights the field you’re focusing on to speed up selection. Access to credentials has been enhanced. In login screens, you can now select both your username and password together. Data import for a seamless experience A common challenge is losing access to important details like favorites, passwords, or addresses when switching browsers. Edge resolves this by loading your data instantly at launch. When you set up the browser, you can decide whether to keep your previous information or start fresh. Credit card details linked to your Microsoft account won’t appear in autofill until then. This will be updated soon. You also get the option to import all autofill entries on demand via Settings > Profile. Your existing data will be replaced by the new content you upload. Syncing across devices A key effort is making sure your autofill works no matter which device you use. Updates are being tested and should appear in future versions. You retain full control over what you share. You can choose to store your data separately from other browsers, with all forms and addresses accessible under Settings > Profile. If you link credit cards to your Microsoft account, they won’t show up in autofill until you enable them. This feature is coming soon. There’s also a way to pull in all your saved entries instantly through Settings > Profile. Keep in mind that your current data will be overwritten by the new information you provide. Staying informed This update marks just the beginning. We value your time and appreciate every effort to make online shopping easier—whether it’s saving passwords, remembering addresses, or handling complex forms. Your feedback helps us improve. By June 4th, 2109, we’ve released build 76.0.176.1 to the Dev Channel. Recent improvements include: resolving video playback glitches, fixing loading delays on certain pages, ensuring sync functionality works correctly, and enhancing user experience with clearer visual cues. We’re committed to delivering a smoother, more intuitive autofill system that respects your preferences. Your input is crucial as we continue refining this feature for the future.
Two updates released on June 10, 2019. Insider channels shared insights about Reading View in Microsoft Edge. This feature aims to provide a seamless reading experience by removing distractions and presenting content in a clean layout. Reading is a core web activity, often interrupted by ads and irrelevant material. Reading View addresses this by restructuring the page for focused consumption.
Most websites offering substantial content—such as news sites, articles, blogs, and stories—allow users to access Reading View via a recognizable icon in the address bar’s top-right corner. The experience is available on Windows, macOS, and Edge for Android devices. On desktops, the interface has shifted to a vertical format, enhancing usability based on user feedback.
Upon activation, Reading View reorganizes the page for optimal reading: background, fonts, spacing, and line length are fine-tuned. These adjustments support better comprehension, focus, and faster reading. Visual examples illustrate the transformation. The desktop version now features a customizable reading bar for themes and font sizes, with further enhancements planned.
To return to the original page, simply click the same icon. The update also introduces grammar tools for improved understanding—highlighting parts of speech in colors like nouns, verbs, or adjectives. While not yet available in all Edge versions, users can enable them via the flags menu.
Reading View works across major browsers and platforms, making it easier to engage with content without interruptions. We invite feedback on the new layout and suggestions for expanding support to additional sites. Your input helps shape a more reader-friendly experience.
