Preparing to upgrade your PC but needed clarification on the Windows installation process.
I’m switching from an i7 7700K to a Ryzen 7 7800X3D for the first time and have kept my existing storage. I’m checking if my current Windows version still supports resetting it through settings, or if I need to reinstall from a USB drive.
I had done it before with Intel to AMD. After installing the SSD in the new system, I had to reactivate Windows and set up drivers for the new board. As mentioned earlier, the best option is to reinstall everything.
When the previous setup includes an MBR partition table, it won't start properly on the new system unless Legacy mode is activated with the CSM feature. Even in those cases, problems persist. This approach isn't recommended; consider reinstalling the system.
