I used to work with big 4K videos on my A6500, and at times the system would slow down or crash when I opened them. While setting up my desktop, I considered upgrading to 32GB RAM but thought about using quad-channel for four sticks of eight GB each for marginally better performance. However, if I needed more than 32GB, it wouldn’t be possible.

You should choose it yourself. Getting two sticks now lets you upgrade later without risking losing your current ones.

You're dealing with big files but limited to around 32 GB. It seems you're considering pairing them with something else, possibly an A6500.

Professionals usually aim for up to 128GB of RAM, and Adobe suggests matching your system’s capabilities. I don’t see how 32GB could ever be insufficient—such an amount is already substantial. Beyond that, it’s mostly about comfort rather than essential needs. In extreme situations you might only need to restart your PC occasionally.

You're asking about the CPU specifications. It seems the 32GB RAM might be sufficient, but you're concerned about stability after a project. Your PC with 16GB experienced crashes during a medium project—consider checking if the RAM was the issue or if other factors played a role.

What processor are you using? Is it the same one or have you upgraded it?

I'm using a laptop these days, so upgrading isn't possible right now. My old desktop got left outside during the winter, so I need a new one. I'm thinking about getting a 10900k when it's available. I prefer around 95% FPS at 1080p for gaming and streaming, with just occasional premium content. I focus more on FPS than longer ad breaks in Adobe.

I think this answers your question. There's no reason to get more than 32GB for occasional editing.

However, the infrequent editing I perform involves very big file sizes, my A6500 handles up to 100mb/s

It was sufficient even with 32 units of memory.
