For those familiar with how this old device functions, here’s what you’re seeing. This machine has been in a basement for a long time, and rust covers most of the interior. The two photos show only the obvious issues on the board—one chip looks heavily corroded, and the battery compartment is completely removed. The power supply makes a humming sound, but it only provides power when you press it. You can hear the hard drive spinning and the CRT monitor turning on, though the monitor doesn’t display anything. The hard drive usually fails, and there’s no Mac sound signature. The green LED at the front does light up. If anyone knows where to start with this unit, I’d really appreciate it. It might just be dead, possibly due to capacitors, but I’m not sure.
