Hello, I received this PowerEdge R410 a few days ago. For the first time, I started it with a drive from another Windows 10 home system and it booted up fine. However, I had the wrong memory settings, so after fixing them, it started behaving oddly—when you plug it in, nothing appears on the screen except the back lights of the power supply are lit normally. The dual power supplies are working, and after about a minute the fans start up fully. During this time, the board shows a yellow LED on the motherboard, but the front I/O remains dark except for the power supplies. The back panel has no lights except for those LEDs, and there’s no video output or any other indicators. The motherboard seems to be receiving power thanks to the yellow light. I’m new to servers, and this is my first setup, so any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Take it off and then reinsert all the RAM DIMMs and power supplies again. Replace the intrusion detection switch multiple times while working inside. Check if it features a dedicated iDRAC (IPMI) port on the back. The R410 model is quite old—it matches the same generation as the first-gen i3/i5/i7. What are your plans for it?
I spent a lot of time later shifting the CPU and RAM to another port. It started booting with just one memory stick, probably because of the intrusion switch—it feels quite flexible. I’m hoping to locate other options if needed. Any additional ideas would be helpful.
I believe I’ve fixed it. I disconnected the front panel ribbon cable and then pressed the button on the back, which started the boot process. I wasn’t sure if it was just me pressing that button or something on the panel interfering, but it worked now. Thanks for your assistance.
