Hello everyone, I’m facing an issue with my Lenovo Legion 7 15IMHg05. When I turn it on, the screen stays black for about twenty seconds before it restarts. The keyboard and fans respond normally, but I can’t see anything on the screen afterward. I’ve used the Lenovo OneKey Recovery (OKR) button with a safety pin, but the problem persists. It began after I adjusted the CPU and GPU voltages and set the CMOS to -100. The laptop functioned for a short time before shutting down completely when I powered it off. Connecting it to a monitor doesn’t show anything either. I’m worried about losing my data, even though I tried the OKR button. I’ve also checked the RAM, disconnected the battery, and reset the CMOS, but nothing seems to work. Is there a way to reset the BIOS settings? I suspect the undervolting caused this, but I’m unable to change the BIOS configuration. Thank you!
I wasn't doing anything in BIOS, and I didn't use a modified BIOS.
The latest BIOS updates from Lenovo support overclocking and undervolting in the Advanced BIOS settings. I didn’t perform any overclocking, only aimed to undervolt.
I worked on my G510 before it stopped working. The problem was that any fixes needing the BIOS to be updated would need a programmer or USB recovery key. Clearing CMOS might not help if that’s the only option.
I don't have any skills that would let me become a programmer, and I don't know anyone nearby with similar experience. Unless this works on another computer, my options are limited (I couldn't find anything online about this). USB Recovery isn't looking promising since the main boot drive was an SSD. I'll give it another try when I get home. Thanks!
Updated - attempted USB recovery but it failed. The laptop didn't power on at all. Last night I left it plugged in overnight. This morning I connected it back, turned it on, and waited a few minutes. It initiated the BIOS Self Healing, reached 100% and rebooted successfully. However, the process restarted repeatedly. Anyone has suggestions? Thanks!
Another update for those who want to know: The motherboard failed, likely burned. It seems it can't be replaced since Lenovo doesn't have any Legion 7 boards available. This appears to be a frequent issue, so anyone looking for a Legion 7 should be aware of this.
