Power supply surges continue to occur.
Power supply surges continue to occur.
For the past month or so I've been working to resolve this issue. My PC frequently switches into power surge mode when I launch high-performance games such as CS:GO, Valorant, Fortnite, GTA V, etc. I've tried disabling the anti-power surge feature, but my PC still restarts afterward. This problem seems to have started around three months ago after I upgraded my system. Can you help me fix this?
Hello there, new member!
PSU: Akasa Venom Power Supply 1000W (the fan is pointed downward, not upward. I don't know if that does anything, but sure)
What model is the case and how recent is your PSU?
My PC keeps entering power surge mode
Could you give more details?
it's a Cougar Volant Case Mid-Tower build. i don't really know the age of the PSU, but when i begin some of these games, my pc enters power surge mode and i end up in the BIOS settings.
How near the bottom of your PSU and fan inlet is to the case? If the space isn't sufficient or there are no ventilation openings nearby, your PSU might overheat because of poor airflow. If it's installed at the top of the case, that shouldn't be an issue.
I haven't come across "Power Surge Mode" in a PC before. Could you clarify what it does?
I'm not quite sure about the effectiveness of that Anti Surge feature in Asus boards, but if it keeps triggering, try removing all unnecessary USB devices when gaming, using a webcam, or connecting a USB headset—just your mouse and keyboard. If that doesn't help, perhaps the issue lies with the power supply unit. I know Asus boards with the Anti Surge can be quite sensitive to certain PSUs, especially those not rated for 5V rails. For example, a customer had an 850-watt unit that was unstable on the 5V rail during load testing, and even after replacement it dropped to as low as 4.2V. Those rails might not be ideal, though they could still trigger the anti-surge protection. Good luck!
It is most probable that the issue was identified by ASUS AI Suite, which has a history of inaccuracies. Therefore, I have not installed it on my Asus motherboards.
My PSU is at the bottom of my case and it's facing down. I'm not sure what the power surge mode does, but if a surge happens and it's active, it brings me to the BIOS settings, and when it's turned off, my PC restarts.
