Power Supply Overclocking
Power Supply Overclocking
I need to decide whether to buy the GTX 970 Strix with an Intel i5-4690k or another option. I’m considering the EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 80 Plus Gold rated power supply, ECO mode, fully modular ATX, and 12V/12V EPS. Should I go with it or choose something else?
This power supply is more than sufficient for your needs; you can opt for the 550-watt model if desired, though I usually prefer having a bit more capacity on hand. A great selection.
- Consider a portable one for easy transport
- Look for models with good insulation and ventilation
- Check reviews for durability and performance
- Explore options with built-in features like ice trays or adjustable compartments

Thanks! Do you have any ideas for a cooler?
I don’t have the case yet.
You really don’t need much for the 4690k to get a solid overclock. The Cryorig H7 is getting a lot of attention these days—it’s a more affordable option similar to a CM hyper 212 evo. It performs well for its price. If you’re looking for something better, just let me know.

Yeah, I was also looking into that. Do you have any suggestions for a case when using the Cryorig H7?

Actually I was also checking both, I think the Cryorig H7 is a good option. Do you have any suggestions for a case? A case really depends on personal preference. I personally don’t like the flashy ones with LEDs. If you’re into that style, maybe you’re not the right person to ask. I’ve been looking at the fractel design define series for my next upgrade—either the R5 or the S. They’re well built and all professional reviews I’ve read have been positive.
S cheaper but still quite good:

I think the S Model looks great and is more affordable.
😀
Jaja! Thanks for all the details!
