A few years back a surge damaged my Ethernet connection and several USB ports, along with the power supply. I suspect it also ruined the DVD drive. Yet the 16 GB RAM, CPU, and graphics card are still working. I own an Alienware X51 R2 and replaced the original 330W power supply with a 330W model. I’m considering an upgrade. I’m fine with not overclocking and avoiding 4K streaming since my TV isn’t that high resolution. The I/O area on the mini ITX board is limited, and I’d rather keep the case intact. If anyone has a similar setup and knows of boards with less than 1.5in x 5.5-6in I/O, any advice would be appreciated. Operating System: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 18363). Language: English (US). System Manufacturer: Alienware Model: Alienware X51 R2 BIOS Date: 07/13/15 11:13:58 Version: 04.06.05 (type: BIOS). Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4460 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz Memory: 16384MB RAM Available OS Memory: 16300MB RAM Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Updated February 22, 2021 by Danny_Jensen Needed to clarify something.

It all comes down to the extent of the damage. I own multiple motherboards that have failed LAN or USB connections due to surges, but they still function okay.
