Power restrictions during overclocking on this ASUS model
Power restrictions during overclocking on this ASUS model
Hello everyone, I discovered a guide on overclocking my GPU. It seems I can exceed the 100% power limit in After Burner. Should I try adjusting it? Here are the screenshots of my setup after all adjustments except the power limit.

Why should I raise the temperature target?
When power limits are the only option,
Overclocking shouldn't be restricted by anything.
Your GPU's temperature is 57 degrees, which is quite low for a GPU.
Increasing the temperature limit could help boost performance slightly.
Try setting both to their maximum and see if your clocks improve.
A decent OC would be stable, and the power cap shouldn't have much impact. You're doing well as it stands.
pretty stable overclock if it holds, the power cap won't really hurt much. You're doing well as it stands.
These are my OC results—how's it going?

I'm just starting out with overclocking, by the way 😛
Increase the power and temperature limits to their highest values. Adjust the priority so it focuses on the temperature limit. Gradually boost the core clock speed until instability occurs, testing various games during this process, and repeat the procedure for the memory clock.
Increase the power and temperature limits to their highest values. Set the priority on the temperature limit. Then boost the core clock speed until it becomes unstable, experimenting with different games for some time, and repeat the process for the memory clock.

Why should i raise these limits?
The power limit only sets a maximum for incoming power. Your card monitors this and restricts it when it exceeds a certain point. Since you aim to overclock, you don’t need to worry about power consumption (as gains are limited), but raising the limits will enable your card to draw more power, thus enhancing your overclocking potential.
Mrgnex suggested adjusting the power and temperature limits to their maximum values. Set the priority for the temperature limit and then increase the core clock speed until it becomes unstable, experimenting with different games. Repeat the process for the memory clock. They explained that raising these limits can help the card draw more power, improving overclocking performance. They also noted that some users advised against increasing the power limit on this GPU.

Crank up the power and temperature limits to their highest settings. Also adjust the priority for the temperature limit. Then boost the core clock speed until it becomes unstable (test different games temporarily) and repeat the process for the memory clock.
Why should I raise these limits?
The power limit only controls how much power the card draws. It measures incoming power and caps it when it exceeds a set point. Since you aim to overclock, you don’t need to worry about excessive power consumption—any increase in draw is negligible. Raising these values lets your card draw more power, which enhances your overclocking potential.
I discovered that this GPU should be boosted to 125% power in Afterburner with these adjustments. Some users suggest against it, but it’s still a valid option. People often feel anxious, but there’s nothing inherently wrong with pushing it to its limits.
Mrgnex shared tips on adjusting settings for better performance. They suggested setting the power and temperature limits to their maximum, prioritizing the temperature limit, and increasing core clock speed until instability occurs. They also mentioned raising memory clock speeds and noted that some users advised against increasing the power limit on this GPU model. They reassured that overclocking is possible if needed and that it's normal to worry.
