Hi! For the 9800x3d, the best power plan depends on your needs. You have balances, high performance, optimal, and power-saving options. Since there are mixed reports, it’s good to check your current settings. After updating the chipset drivers, you noticed the CPU acted differently—your power plan wasn’t set to balanced. That’s possible, especially if the change affected how the system manages power. If you’re unsure about defaults, you might want to confirm what setting is active right now. Let me know if you need more details!

They focus little on distinctions compared to my observations of a 5800X and 14600K.

What caught my attention was how much more erratic my CPU became compared to balanced performance. It would jump from 57°C to 68°C during games without any obvious cause, which is unusual for me. I might be misinterpreting something!

Welcome to Ryzen for the past few years. Don't overthink it and stop watching CPU temperature! Stress test and ensure maximums are under control then just stop paying attention to it.

The results I've seen so far don't indicate anything unusually bad, so you should be okay with performance. In my opinion, the CPU is running near its maximum from the start, and a small undervolt adjustment might help.

The maximum temperature reached during Cinebench in a 25°C room is 92°C, with an effective clock speed of 5210 MHz. It seems everything is working well.
