You're considering using an Ethernet cable instead of Wi-Fi because the router is in the living room and you don't want to rely on weak wireless signals. An Ethernet connection via a power line adapter could work well for basic internet needs without the hassle of running cables everywhere. For a budget-friendly option around $30–35, look for affordable Ethernet hubs or extenders that connect to your router or modem.

Found in a previous discussion. Works well with Gigabit links. Offers better performance than standard wiring but isn't as fast as a regular cable. Suitable for connections up to Gigabit speeds. You can find more details on the Amazon page provided.

Power line adapters perform inconsistently. They work best when on the same circuit. Crossing breakers usually slows them down. Phasing issues often cause poor performance. Devices drawing a lot of power may create interference.
