I’m working on assembling my PC and it’s finally powered up. The motherboard has power connected but the system won’t start. I’m certain I followed the wiring correctly. If anyone could assist, I’d really appreciate it. My components are a Prime B450M-A motherboard, a GeForce RTX 3060, Vengeance LX RAM, a Super Flower LEADEX Gold 3 power supply, and a Ryzen 5 4500 CPU. Thanks! Edited Jan 30, 2024 by Whinnie

Have you purchased the new motherboard? You can verify its BIOS version by checking the packaging. If you require a BIOS upgrade, this board supports updates even with an incompatible CPU.

It might be due to the lighting setup. The board isn’t secured with standoffs and is attached straight to the case. That could cause shorts if the wiring is exposed.

Great catch! I didn’t realize the motherboard was secured that way—there’s definitely a misplaced screw in the top left corner. There’s also a pre-installed standoff in the bottom left under the board, which should help prevent issues. @Whinnie, could you share a summary of the remaining screws for this project?

I opted for the long screws. The remaining ones are still in use. Should I be using particular ones?

Turn off the PSU right away! It looks like you're skipping the standoffs between the motherboard and case. How would you know that longer screw is correct? Edited January 29, 2024 by leclod

@Whinnie yes... it seems you don't have any standoffs. That could cause the GPU to not fit properly and might damage your mainboard and system. Each screw hole on the mainboard needs a standoff—those small ones with thin threads usually work. Most boards come with a "guiding" standoff just to aid mounting. You probably don't need to fasten anything unless you have one. If some standoffs lack holes, remove them. The long screw is typically for radiators, or check the case manual for specific fit details.

Between mb and case you need eight items. Possibly some additional components could help, just in case. The dark coating may not conduct electricity well, which is a good thing. Updated January 29, 2024 by leclod

Make sure you’ve prepared this setup before touching anything. Pay close attention to the video instructions. (Remember to power down the machine right away as directed.) After reviewing the content, carefully remove the components and check for any signs of damage. Share photos of the rear panel so we can evaluate the situation. We’ll proceed from there.
