Power escaping from the PC enclosure and the initial display unit.
This morning I attempted to connect a USB device to the back of my computer. The machine wasn’t running, but the power supply was active. Suddenly, a sensation appeared on my finger—the metal hinge at the rear of my PC case. After turning off the PSU and unplugging it from the surge protector, I waited a while before restarting the computer. Everything functioned normally with no leaks. However, my first monitor (there are two) began to lose signal. I investigated and discovered another leakage on the bottom of that monitor. I suspect it’s not the GPU since the second monitor is connected and appears operational. Both my PC and the first monitor are linked to the same surge protector, which connects to a 3-to-2 prong adapter and then to a two-prong outlet. I believe an ungrounded outlet could be the issue. I’m seeking advice from online communities because I can’t communicate right now (it’s 2 a.m.) and I feel isolated and worried. Please help. I’ll include pictures for clarity. In the first photo, the two unplugged cables are from the monitor that shocked me and my PC, while the two connected ones are from the internet router and the working second monitor.
Situation remains stable because the connection isn't connected to earth.
It's simply a buildup of static electricity. If the wall outlet had proper grounding, the static would spread out. That sounds like a risky electrical setup.
How do I describe when the monitor suddenly loses its signal and then restores itself? It seems to happen after a short pause, and it works again after a few minutes. My other monitor is fine, so maybe the issue is with the power outlet or something else I don’t understand. I’m worried about my PC and don’t want to panic. X.X
