Power cut interrupted system performance
Hi, your gaming session on the desktop PC occurred during a brief power interruption. The system froze after a short outage, though the monitor, UPS, and fans remained functional. The screen went dark completely, and pressing the power button didn’t restore it. It seems the issue might stem from either the UPS or the PSU, but it’s unclear which one caused the problem. You might want to check the PSU connections, test the UPS separately, or monitor voltage stability during future outages to better diagnose the cause.
What UPS is this? I get insane brownouts during summer and my UPS handles my shittiest of shittiest PSUs just fine. If its not an online UPS, then it probably switches slower than your PSUs hold up time. Which imho means both of them are shit.
Based on the specific model, it could be that the transition wasn't quick enough for the capacitors in your power supply to maintain all the voltage rails consistently.
I think I should replace this UPS. The one I own comes from a Chinese brand that's well-known in France: https://www.netram.fr/Catalogue-produits...-600W.html
It seems to be a Cyberpower component. The specifications show a transfer time of 4ms. If your power supply can't handle it, that's the main concern. I'm not very familiar with UPS/PSUs yet—please wait for others' opinions before investing heavily. I use Schneider Electric (believed to be the European brand) and some Chinese-made models both online. Having devices powered from batteries is important for me, so I rely on isolation power in tough situations. If your power situation is bad, opt for an online unit.
You likely need to swap these batteries frequently since they keep your gadgets running. On average, you can expect around 3 to 5 years of typical use before needing a replacement.
You won't be able to avoid battery changes on these devices. After 27 months of regular use, they all run for more than 20 minutes (including the server, PC, and monitor) before giving a low battery alert and stopping automatically.
It's quite bothersome. I swapped the battery around six months ago. This is the first time I've faced this problem during the two to three years I've been using this PSU. Probably because I was gaming and the GPU was under heavy load when the outage occurred. Still a bit frustrating.
