I plan to purchase a new HP with four gigabytes of RAM and an M.2 storage option. All M.2 units display power consumption details on their labels. The only reference I found is the Samsung 64 GB kit, which shows 4.6 watts when active and 1.4 watts when idle. HP claims up to 16 GB is possible, though some listings suggest 32 GB. I’m not aiming for maximum performance but prefer RAM that consumes less power than the standard 16 GB used by HP. None of my current RAM has ever failed, and I transfer it into the new laptop whenever space allows.
