The additional connector applies mainly to the CPU power supply. Consider adding a four-pin adapter; it’s unlikely to fix problems with the front panel and rear I/O. Still, it’s worth a shot! You might also want to check if a BIOS update is available. What model of board are you using?

Yes, an 8pin cable can only work as a 4-pin connection. However, increasing CPU power won't improve USB port performance. The CPU's power supply and the motherboard's 24-pin power circuit aren't linked in my understanding. You're correct that your CPU isn't receiving enough voltage to require the extra cable you mentioned. USB devices operate on 5V power, while the CPU receives 12V internally. The motherboard can adjust voltage levels, but it still depends on the CPU's actual needs. What kind of devices are you trying to charge? What’s happening exactly?

My configuration had stability problems with front and rear I/O as long as the device has been operating—only recently did I notice issues after using a controller, which would shut down instead of charging properly.

Typically impacts controllers and external hard drives—anything requiring some power—but doesn’t affect my USB headset.

Corsair power cables aren't likely to work with EVGA PSUs. You can still find EVGA cables, but they probably won't solve your problem. Make sure your BIOS is up to date. Also check if your USB devices have issues—sometimes problems appear on rear motherboard USB ports as well.

I was working on that statement about the board supporting only low-current devices. You don’t seem to have any problems with that. As we discussed with Ligistix, updating the BIOS might help.

I just tried the Amazon link for a brief test. I plan to check the BIOS update, and honestly, the rear ports are what’s odd—if it was only the front, I’d think it was the cable.

Consider installing the chipset drivers directly from the manufacturer. I faced an issue with older boards where these drivers were essential for USB and network connections to function properly. Updating them could resolve the problem.
