My grandson is heading off to college for engineering studies. I purchased him a ThinkPGPad P1 Gen 6 Intel (16″) Mobile Workstation designed for programs that rely heavily on the GPU and have 12GB of RAM. The battery life lasts between 3 to 5 hours during intensive graphic tasks, which could be an issue if he doesn’t have access to an AC outlet. Classes run from 7:00 to 4:00 PM and often later.

For connectivity, there are two USB-C Thunderbolt™ 4 ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports (5Gbps, always on), and an HDMI 2.1 port. If a power bank is available, it would connect via one of the USB-C Thunderbolt™ 4 ports.

It was recommended to include a power bank, but I’m not sure it will be enough. A dedicated DieHard battery would be more suitable. 😊 Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

A power bank sufficient for the duration is probably as bulky as the DieHard you referred to. There are definitely options that can prolong his battery life, but he'll need to decide when to recharge.
Do you have a budget in mind?
Remember, his laptop isn't always running intensive tasks.

Thank you in advance. The budget comes after evaluating the costs. Would you like some suggestions for a Power Bank? It's worth noting that the system's power adapter is 230W.
Best,

The power adapter's wattage doesn't have to match the power bank's. My suggestion is to focus on extending the laptop battery life rather than completely replacing the charger. See what I mean?
For instance:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGHTGTWZ?ref...i_atc&th=1
This would be great, except for the weight (over 7 pounds).

Please remember that I reduced the adapter's wattage just for reference, as I've never seen that much power for a laptop before. It would be ideal, but carrying it around campus would be tough. I heard newer classrooms have more of them, so older ones should be fine. I was thinking about shutting it down when the battery drops to about 10% and switching to battery power. Thank you very much for your time and effort—it means a lot!

There are also interruptions during the day. Inserting a device then should help reduce the problem. He only needs to bring along his charger and use it when necessary.
