I am using an MSI 3080 and corsair RM850 power supply seeing black screens that occur seemingly after a heavy load is finished I only have 2 PCIe connectors (one is daisy chained to fill all 3 connectors on the GPU). After talking to a service tech and getting the GPU stressed on a completely different system it was having no crashes. He thought it may be the power supply, suggesting i get a 3rd PCIe connector and forget about daisy chaining. I agree with him but he also suggested I split the connectors I do have onto different 12v Rails seeing as I only have 1 12v rail with this power supply. Suggesting it may be an issue with the card draining power from the Caps as the system will not boot again after a crash. Should I get another PCIe connector or should i get a new power supply, power supply's are not an area I'm too familiar with so I would really appreciate the help!
Your Corsair RM850 model should have sufficient PCIe power cables to accommodate the three connectors. Verify if you've kept the cables in a secure place. Use only the original PCIe power cables that came with the PSU. Share the complete system specifications, including CPU, MOBO, and cooling setup. Does the display restore functionality after appearing black?
I suspect the same problem exists with your RM850 (2019) and Aorus Xtreme 3080. The package only included two PCIe connectors. With GeForce Experience enabled, you can access the overlay. I didn’t bother changing the language for the screenshot, but the "Performance" button is what you need. The third of the three sliders at the bottom adjusts the maximum power your card can handle. Reduce it until stability returns, then fine-tune a bit more to ensure smooth performance while you wait for the new PSU.
