Potential issue with 13th Gen Intel CPU leading to game crashes
Hi everyone, hope everything is okay!
I've been using an Intel 13700k for almost two years now. Recently, I upgraded my graphics card to a Zotac RTX 5080 AMP and also installed a new power supply from Corsair RM1000x. Since then, I've experienced crashes in games that weren't there before—maybe just a few times, but more often lately.
For a couple of days now, these crashes occur around 95% of the time.
I found some articles suggesting that 13th and 14th generation CPUs might eventually face this problem.
My main thought is that the CPU could be the cause. At first, I was unsure about my GPU and PSU, but I watched a YouTube video where someone recommended using Benchmate R15 to check if it's the CPU that's triggering the crashes. I downloaded Benchmate 15 and ran the test—it always crashed.
After slightly overclocking my CPU, it worked perfectly, and I started playing the game without any issues. Later, I went back, launched the game again, and it crashed once more. Then I ran the same test on Benchmate R15, which also failed.
What do you think could be the main problem? How can we fix it?
Also, before making any upgrades, I had a game called Sons of the Forest that would crash every 5–10 minutes. That makes me think the issue might not be with the PSU or GPU.
In my BIOS, the DRAM status shows DDR4 at 3600MHz from Corsair, but in the actual DRAM test it's running at 2133MHz even though XMP is enabled.
Here are my specs:
- OS: Windows 11 (updated)
- CPU: Intel Core I7 13700K
- GPU: Zotac RTX 5080
- RAM: DDR4 48GB at 3600MHz
- Motherboard: Asus Prime B760m-a with Wi-Fi
- SSD: Samsung Evo 860, 512GB
- HDD: 1TB
- PSU: Corsair RM1000X (newest)
What seems to be the core problem and how can it be resolved? There’s no solution for the degradation issue on 13th/14th Gen processors—please return them for an RMA as soon as possible.
However, recently upgrading my GPU to a Zotac RTX 5080 AMP with a new Corsair RM1000x power supply, did you run DDU in Safe Mode to remove all GPU drivers manually? from Nvidia’s support site?
Crashes—do you mean crashes when the desktop launches or during a system reboot?

What BIOS version are you using for your motherboard?
Occasionally it triggers a BSOD, but most of the time it simply crashes to the desktop.
Bios Version is "American Megatrends Inc. 0807, 12/5/2022"
Could you clarify if you're asking about a CPU problem or something else?
