Hey there! I'm facing some strange problems with my computer lately. A few weeks back I experienced frequent lag when launching new apps. I thought a fresh Windows install would help, but first I checked my SSD and ran some tests. It ended up showing a BSOD, so I reinstalled Windows again. After that, my XPG S70 1Tb was treated as a 2.1GB drive. I reinstalled the 990 PRO and started fresh, but now it just powers on and then keeps flashing the power indicator without starting properly. Some folks mentioned that rapid blinking might mean no CPU detected, but whenever it does start, it functions normally. I've had this setup for over a year without any issues before. I've tried removing RAM, GPU, CPU, cleaning everything, checking cables, clearing CMOS, and even updating the BIOS. My specs are listed above. It's puzzling since everything worked perfectly until now.

This appears to be a bad situation for the SSD. It seems like the device won't function properly at the moment. Your system appears to be working when powered on, which is a positive beginning. I’m not sure if the blinking LED indicates a CPU issue. The Seties 7000x3D models had known problems that were resolved with a BIOS update. It looks like updating your BIOS is the right step. Please let us know how things progress afterward.

If your RAM is faulty, it might show problems in various ways, as described. Install memtest on a USB drive using a tool such as Ventoy and run the default test at least twice. If no errors appear, it’s a good sign you can safely rule out issues.

It functions properly each time it boots. The issue arises after over a year of use, which seems unusual. It’s not impossible, but it feels strange.

I've never done this before. After work, I'll run a memtest and upgrade the BIOS to the newest release.

Because it is called degradation. This is a rather slow process that accumulates errors with time.

It might depend on the temperature—warm or cold conditions could affect performance. There may be a loose connection somewhere, so consider reseating the RAM, graphics card, and CPU. If needed, rebuild the while loop structure.

I also installed a BIOS update, but the problems persist. I’d run Memtest now, though it might take a while given my 64GB RAM. I’ll do it later when I have more time, so I won’t leave it running unattended.

Sure, it should take about an hour or three. I experienced issues with a RAM stick that only showed errors during the second test—this caused problems for months until I identified the problem during a longer evaluation.

Updating now. It looks like the problem of not posting after restarting disappeared. Not sure what I did to fix it—just checked the RAM and everything worked again. Now the main concern is lag spikes in Windows, where programs sometimes freeze completely for a second.
