Post-outage connection issues following an extended blackout
Post-outage connection issues following an extended blackout
Experienced a four-day blackout. Power restored on the 20th, but my Wi-Fi is sluggish. Speed tests show 413 Mbps now—similar to pre-outage levels in some cases. Recently checked my phone and PC, both reported around 33 Mbps download speeds. Anyone have ideas or fixes? I've tried turning devices off/on, adjusting IP settings, and updating drivers, but nothing helped.
I see you're discussing wireless versus wired connections. The cyberpunk steam download was likely measured on a wired setup, not wireless. That speed of 431 Mbps seems accurate. If the problem is mainly Wi-Fi-related and it functions over Ethernet, it might be due to using 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz. Try switching your modem/router to a 5GHz network for testing. Many providers combine both into one SSID, letting the router choose based on your needs. I usually turn this off first. At home, unless you have a very large house, sticking with 2.4GHz for IoT devices makes sense since the router is typically in a central location. Reserve 2.4GHz for IoT and keep 5GHz separate for your main devices.
