I’m noticing the build always shows 0d for my NAS. The machine is a Threadripper 1950x with an ASUS ROG X399 E motherboard. I’ve updated the BIOS and re-seated the RAM, but I’m worried the CPU might be faulty since it was second-hand from eBay. Before seeking a refund, I want to confirm if there’s anything else I haven’t tried.

Use isopropyl alcohol to wipe the back of the CPU. Lightly blow on the socket to remove any debris.

This CPU is quite large and easily damaged by improper mounting pressure. I’d bet it won’t work if not secured correctly. The recommended torque is 1.5 N/M; start with the single screw first for better results.
