So recently I purchased a newer GPU to swap in for my XFX 5700xt. I bought a 6700XT Hellhound from Powercolor. ---------test in CS2-------- With the 5700xt I achieved around 230fps. The lowest I could see was 150 and the highest reached 300+ based on the map, players, etc. With the 6700xt I got similar performance but with significantly less FPS. I'm really upset! I'm using an i5 12500 with 64GB RAM that's auto-overclocked to 6000MHz. My PSU is a 600W Gold by beQuiet. I also run an AlO with good temperatures. The GPU stays well below 60°C. The graphics card is usually under 60°C. The motherboard is a B760 Plus from ASUS with updated drivers. I also installed fresh AMD software, but it didn't help. The GPU never exceeds 110W while playing. Utilization stays at 50% max. I haven't played any games other than CS2 since I don't play at all.

You anticipated a different experience with CS2, expecting it to be heavily graphics-focused. In reality, esports rely more on CPU power than GPU, so switching to games like Resident Evil or Elden Ring would highlight that distinction.

I only use CS2, so an upgrade might improve stability and FPS. The exact CPU needed depends on your current setup.

If you're just playing CS, you won't need a lot of RAM, but that's not my area. I didn't look into the latest updates for faulty chips on 13 and 14 generations of Intel. My best guess would be a used i7 from the 12th generation, like the 12700F or 12700KF (assuming you don't need an integrated GPU).

Last year I purchased RAM and CPU for €125—it was a great deal, and I hope to find something similar. I’m considering the i9 12900k now for €250.

Be mindful of i9—it's quite challenging to keep it cool.

It also consumes a lot of power, so upgrading the power supply might be necessary.

It's frustrating with all these tech changes. I'd rather upgrade my system instead of keeping up.

I can purchase it if you're ready to sell it for just one dollar.

CS2 requires significantly more power from the GPU compared to CS:GO, though it's still mostly constrained by the CPU. To achieve higher FPS, both CPU and GPU will help. If you switch to a new CPU, you'd probably get more consistent FPS, but the peak would likely stay similar because you'd be limited by the 5700XT setting.
