I'm using an i9-10850K with a z590 ROG Strix board. I'm planning to switch to a mostly new setup with an i7-13700K and Strix Z690 board. I'll retain the GPU and switch to Windows 10. I'm curious if moving to Windows 11 would improve performance for the new CPU. My idea is to replace the old boot drive (including the 500GB M.2, a 1TB SSD, and another SATA SSD) with the new components and use Windows 11's free upgrade option. Does this approach sound reasonable?

Windows 11 introduces an updated Task Scheduler tailored for the big.LITTLE architecture of Intel's Alder Lake and Raptor Lake processors, which combine P-cores and E-cores. That should function properly. Be aware you might need to remove the previous motherboard drivers to avoid conflicts when installing new ones like audio, chipset/BT, or Wi-Fi if those are available.

For the second commander's remarks, be ready to reinstall Windows from the beginning if it encounters issues with the new hardware. I even failed to start into safe mode while attempting to boot the FX-6300 install on my updated 12700 build at that time.
