I upgraded to a Ryzen 5600X today. My 32GB TridentZ RGB stopped working with the RAM controls after the swap. On Thaiphoon Burner I confirmed my CRC and SPD were fine, no corruption detected. Still, nothing I did gave me any influence over the RAM. When it didn’t revert to its default settings, it should have when communication from lighting software was lost. Looking into the problem, I found an old fix from three years ago using Asus Aura software—even without ASUS hardware—and it restored control. I used the newest version available on Asus’ site. If anyone has a similar situation, please share your experience.
This might relate to the B550 tomahawk as well; initial issues started with MSI X570 boards. I stayed stable with a Ryzen 3600 at XMP levels and higher. Added a 5600X caused frequent WHEA errors. No memory faults, just BIOS/BIOS-related glitches leading to WHEA. 100% tied to MSI BIOS versions. I’d skip memory tuning until a BIOS update is released. Running 2133 helped too. Also, after enabling XMP, I lost control over memory settings. One more point: this could account for the varied outcomes reviewers saw with Zen 3. If stock XMP profiles ran on MSI boards, they might silently trigger WHEA and 100ns latency issues, greatly influencing results.
