Specs: i7 4770K @ 4.4 GHz, 1080 Ti, both CPU and GPU water cooled. Resolution: 3440x1440. I’ve been struggling to play Assassins Creed Origins for two days because it’s overloading my CPU. The game works well at first with full settings, but then drops and freezes occasionally. It seems the CPU maxing out forces the GPU usage to drop significantly, possibly due to DRM restrictions. I’ve adjusted every possible setting and even tried running it at a low CPU preset, but it still gets maxed out. I’m really hoping to play this and am considering getting it on Xbox instead since Ubisoft hasn’t responded.

You won't receive any reply, and EA Ubisoft won't resolve the issue unless they face significant backlash like they did with Battlefield 2... just woke up but you need that kind of reaction.

It's a Ubisoft title, not EA, but honestly you're probably right.

AC: High CPU usage is connected to DRM because it verifies authenticity each time you switch in the game. It might mean you're moving or changing too quickly—slow down a bit, enjoy the game, take a moment to admire the roses, watch the sky, pet a dog or a few, sit on the porch and observe the Egyptians passing by.

My computer isn't as powerful as yours, but I faced the same issue. The game ran smoothly at full settings for a while, then after about 30 minutes it became extremely difficult to play and eventually crashed. I reduced the game to 60 frames per second and lowered visuals for a better experience, but that's just misleading from Ubisoft.

The game features two DRM protections, suggesting intense conflict between them. It seems they were meant to clash, with the first breaking almost instantly. This scenario is amusing because studies show that video game piracy usually doesn’t hurt sales and might even help them. Of course, bypassing DRM means only those paying for the game experience the loss.

Maybe search for a way to bypass the DRM and remove restrictions. I haven't checked recently, so it's unclear if a fix is available yet. I've been running the game at 1080p with 60fps on a Ryzen 1700 and GTX 1080, which gives me a stable experience—just some occasional stutters. Raising the resolution to 1440p brings smoother performance at around 50fps, but capping at 30fps and using 4K with anti-aliasing off works for me. Since my TV and monitor only support 60Hz, I don’t aim higher.

As I still wait for ubisoft to reply to me. Does anyone who plays the game have recommended settings to turn down especially ones that can help the cpu load. I haven't played an assassins creed on a console since assassins creed 3 so I would like to try a good amount to make it work before I decide if I need to return it and get it on xbox.
