You're experiencing intermittent audio problems with your MSI 3060 graphics card. After some time, the sound becomes distorted and then disappears entirely. Running Windows Troubleshooter usually installs a generic driver, which sometimes resolves the issue temporarily. However, it often needs repeating after short periods. The problem seems consistent across different setups, including when using HDMI to a projector. It appears to be either a driver-related issue or possibly hardware-related. You're considering reinstalling the driver as a temporary solution, but you're concerned it might just delay the real fix.

There are no suggestions at all. It happens roughly every 48 hours on average, though audio drops a few times each night—always resolved after reinstalling the generic audio driver. You mentioned being on Windows 10, and now you're using an HDMI audio receiver, but the problem persists. I could try optical, but streaming via PLEX is the only option; technically it works, yet the routing issue remains unresolved.

Are you using the onboard audio card and HDMI together at the same time? Do you require both? Avoid swapping MFG drivers for MS generic ones. Try downloading the latest driver from MFG—your problem might have been resolved. If your only task is streaming audio via HDMI, turn off the onboard audio in BIOS.

Execute the complete nVidia installation and verify HDMI audio is enabled.

I noticed this might be an error—I think the Windows troubleshooter installed the generic driver. After doing a DDU uninstall and reinstalling the NVIDIA driver, the generic driver still remains. I haven’t found a way to check HDMI audio settings or use the built-in audio, though I considered it as a possible fix. I’ll try again tomorrow with DDU and reinstall to see if it resolves the issue.

After installing the driver, navigate to Device Manager, check for any yellow question marks, review what failed to install. Or try getting the HDMI audio driver separately from video—don’t know how NVIDIA would not bundle audio with their install. Are you downloading non-WQL and slim drivers???
